Comic Book Review: Black Widow #1

Ok, now I admit that I should have been reading this series when it first came out but well I was more focused on other comics. Now that I have started the series I can not stop reading it! In fact after reading the first 2 issues of Black Widow, I quickly went out and got the rest of the series. What got my attention about this series and specifically issue Unknown#1 is the following.

The cover for issue #1 which is shown above, is eye catching. I wanted to know who this lady in red was and why she had a target to her eye but in the symbol of her character. The tag line also caught my eye.Three words giving you small but powerful information about who she is. Now, I know of Black Widow and some character background from the various Marvel and Avenger films she has been in. This first issue helps to set up who she is apart from Shield and the Avengers team. For me, this is important information, for some of you who have read some of my other reviews, such as Star Wars Vader, you know that I love learning the details and in depth information about characters. Natasha is no exception to this. As you read this first comic, you learn little about her and her life but also along the way of the plot line for this issue you learn why she does certain things and why she will not get close to others or even with a cat.

The art in this issue is fantastic as well, highly illustrated and the colors of the panels change depending on what is going on in them will change to reflect and add to the affect of the art of the panels. The art also helps to shape Natasha and help to explain her story. Love this.

After reading this first issue, its no wonder I was hooked. It is highly packed with action and filled with the detailed information about the character that I crave from a plot line. But it makes you work for it. Each issue only reveals a small amount about Natasha and her past , which of course if you are like me makes you want to read the next issue in order to figure out more and to see what adventures she will go on next.

So if you want to know more about this avenger and what she does when she is not working along side the likes of Thor, Stark and Captain America I highly suggest reading her comics and following along with her on her many adventures as she works to clear her ledger.
